She works primarily in the field of experimental performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflecting on performance as a world-building practice, Gui B.B. deploys indisciplinary performative statements in which theatricality, irony, and voice appear as primary materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By engaging with different forms of kinship, while exploring an assertive dramaturgy of the body, her process brings out new constellations, possible reconfigurations of dominant narratives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a profusion of gestures-objects, she creates spaces in which the audience can experience nonsense, an eruption of alterations to normative identifications. It is in these baroque spaces that she imagines playful \u201ctrans-fictions,\u201d poetic narratives where a dissident mythology is created. Lost in a fragmented memory, she attempts to reconstruct the contours of her existence, only recovering her memories in fragments. Haunted by a desire to disappear, she screams, resonates, and pounds the ground to bring up the swamp, to awaken what, deep down, still refuses to die.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this performative exploration, the artist uses the codes of drag \u2014 here, a kind of amphibian drag \u2014 where the body becomes a haunted interface, traversed by abstract figures forming a dissociative chorus. She thus establishes an aesthetic of glitch and excess, in which she invokes a baroque iconography informed by pop culture and punk rituals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By pursuing a &#8220;cross-genre&#8221; methodology, which intertwines themes such as non-human figures, precarious work, debt, and the effects of capitalism on queer subjectivities, she creates a disturbing fable\u2014something between queer myth and horror tale. The space becomes a speculative excavation site, where a desire to evaporate and reappear is expressed in a fife, sticky, and improper fairy tale.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper. She delves into how debt is both endured and fought within her own body. The artist establishes a trans symbolic space in which she reclaims ambiguity, uncertainty, hyper-vulnerability, and chaos. Conceived as a hardcore musical fairy tale, the performance reveals the intrinsic fragility of a system that makes us feel guilty, making alienation an experience disguised as freedom. In a saturated space, the artist gathers an inventory of objects, sounds, and songs, acting as intimate artifacts that she seems incapable of exhausting.
