Alegr\u00eda Gobeil lets themself be traversed by a multitude of suicidal figures that split, contaminate one another, until they dissolve any notion of origin\u2014whether medical, biographical, historical, or fictional. Through this embodied inquiry, the artist investigates the psychic reach of this hegemonic figure: the repulsion, fascination, and projections it provokes. Their body becomes a site for the repetition of collective fears and fantasies. Informed by critical perspectives on the psychiatrization of suffering and the logics of profitability that govern our relationships, this interdisciplinary theater research examines the erotic and the political that can unfold within the oblique refusal of self-narration\u2014bringing forth a desiring protean figure.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
