Project Alterdogs

Project Alterdogs is an emerging dance and performance collective composed by Claire Pearl and Léonie Bélanger. Their latest work emerged from an interest in working with the imagination in the body and in space, while also giving central stage to experimentation and interdisciplinary research.

Their approach seeks to create alternative spaces for choreographic and performative risk-taking. This creative freedom manifests itself primarily in the role given to improvisation within a performance and creative contexts. With the aim of offering audiences an engaging and immersive experience, they question the transformation of a shared space through the contagion of imagination.

ALTERMUNDI : Recherches spatio-temporelles

The aim of this research and creation residency is to provide the space and time needed to understand a macro-universe which holds three distinct micro-universes. L’Absolu est absurde, Ego et cheval : acte 2 and Corps. Route. Ride. are rooted in diverse aesthetics genres – such as Western science fiction, action films and Formula 1 racing – and each bringing its own rules, landscapes and archetypes to the table. The collective’s focus is now on hybridizing these codes using collage to build a multi dimensional experience of their artistic world.

Interested in the body changed by an imaginary context and, inversely, in the perceptions of the environment changed by the presence of bodies, their focus is also placed on the consolidation of methodological anchors. This includes the creation of a lexicon of their choreographic and performative tools.
