Justin de Luna & Winnie Ho
Using body-based performance, Winnie and Justin’s artistic approach holds a light spirit while approaching complicated themes. These themes mainly sit at the intersection of their diasporic questioning and queerness; whilst centering pleasure in all of it’s forms. They use lightness as a device – often through humor, whether awkward or accidental –, in order to soften themselves, their audience and content as they approach more troubling areas. Being both queer-identified, their collaborative practice sits at the juncture of their queer politics and the tensions of being off / going off the norm; doing so with a DIY kind of attitude, finding comfort in it’s spirit, contexts and aesthetics. Virtuosity is a consistent element within their practice and work, frequently expressed musically and/or physically, and oftentimes as a vehicle in their performances.
