Rachelle Bourget is a contemporary dance artist originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has been developing her artistic practice over several years, working with numerous choreographers
and through the creation of solo works, mainly AFTER THE CAUSE (OFFTA, 2022). Interested in using themes that touch on darker emotional experiences, her work is developed around a deep introspection of these reflections and their bodily impressions. She thus creates environments where the public can resonate with and reject the experience simultaneously.

MERIDIAN RESPONSE

This new work combining dance and sound creation revolves around the physical and sensory themes of destruction and restoration in relation to pleasure.
Inspired by the physical sensations and sound triggers of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response), Rachelle Bourget’s team will explore the relationships between pleasure, sound and sight, and how the connection of these senses generates a bodily and emotional response. This research is enhanced using contact microphones, which are used as tools to investigate the idea of the body as a container converting sound, in relation to the physical space it inhabits. The use of liquids (oil, gels, water) with tarps, ropes, ceramic and other textured objects feeds their sonic explorations. Rachelle Bourget is therefore interested in finding sustentation in destabilizing the comfort and habits of the dancers and the public.
