A multidisciplinary artist in search of humanity,, Stella Lemaine transforms her experience of the world into stories that challenge the pervasive sense of powerlessness in the face of systemic issues. Her projects, often hybrid in form, are fueled by her background in documentary cinema and theater. As an unapologetic Afrofeminist, Stella is ready to take on the anti-woke armed only with joy and indignation, convinced that storytelling itself is a revolutionary act, and that we may be only a few thousand stories away from an ideal world.

CORPS NOIRS

The performance-documentary project Corps Noirs is an intimate, artistic, and political exploration of Black bodies; their relationship to white body supremacy, their invisible wounds, and their capacity for resilience. Through reflections on systemic racism and intergenerational trauma, personal interviews, and a hybrid choreographic approach, the project creates a space for connection and reflection for both audiences and the Afro-descendant artists whose paths it will cross.
