Victor Cuellar

Victor Cuellar is a mexican artist based in Montreal working at the intersection of documentary theater, Indigenous worldviews, and experimental writing. Seeking to destabilize dominant narratives through a critical diversity perspective, he draws from the concept of dispossession and the deconstruction of colonial discourses. His work is informed by ethnography, memory, and critical ecologies, and engages in constant dialogue with marginalized communities, transforming the stage into a place of encounter, resistance, and collective reinvention.

The documentary theatre project 2042 (Nahualidades) examines the Quebec independence movement through an immigrant and decolonial perspective. Inspired by Indigenous worldviews and experimental playwriting, it confronts official narratives with invisible forms of memories, transforming the stage into a sensitive space of inquiry where archives, testimonies, rituals, and fiction intersect. In dialogue with marginalized communities, 2042 (Nahualidades) questions notions of territory, sovereignty, and climate justice. Victor develops a hybrid dramaturgy that integrates performative practices, simple technologies, and spiritual legacies. Symbolic bridge between Montreal and Mexico, the work invites the audience into an immersive experience where memory, politics, and imagination intertwine to rethink the collective future.
