YOU ARE HERE
12th edition | October 30 to November 1, 2026, at Théâtre Aux Écuries.
In partnership with Théâtre Aux Écuries, YOU ARE HERE is an intensive multidisciplinary creation residency for recent graduates of Montreal’s performing arts programs, as well as early-career artists who have followed a non-academic path. Bringing together emerging creators in dance, theatre, performance and circus, the initiative aims to foster encounters and to encourage the exploration of artistic practices. With technical support and dramaturgical guidance, artists are given an intensive week of creation in the theatre’s spaces to experiment, deepen their artistic approach and develop a short project.
At the end of the residency, the public is invited to discover the results of these explorations through a roaming event, with several works presented in different spaces throughout the theatre. YOU ARE HERE is a living laboratory, a meeting place, a celebration of emerging creation and a glimpse of what’s to come.
PROGRAM
Les Cloches / The Anruf
Frédéric Lauzon-Schnittka + Sebastian Kann
WAKE UP! For heaven’s sake, wake up!
The devil is not in those details.
Millions of insects crawl under your garden rocks! My grandmother’s tongue sits at this very moment against her teeth, possibly wrapping into an unprecedented sentence!
YOU SEE? The miracle is continuous, here and everywhere else.
Within a fluid and inconsolable circus body, Les Cloches / The Anruf admits to the focal and urgent existential sentiment.

FILE_01 / LESBIAN MEMORIES
WHACKING / UNARCHIVED
1970 → 2026
Where are lesbians and FLINTA people in the archives of Whacking?
We dig through hidden stories, forgotten or untold fragments, imaginaries and unspoken things passed from body to body.
00:00:01
A fraction of a second. A gaze lingers. The rest is off-screen. What becomes of a desire that cannot be spoken? What happens when we let it rise, when we hold it back? One pulse. Then another. The body begins to respond.
2026 | The archives are fragmentary. So we imagine what is missing. Memory rises to the surface.
Between erotic and cinematic fragments, Whacking, dancefloor and trance, desire accumulates, circulates, is shared, spills over. Memory and fantasy loop until they become matter to bring forth, dance, pulse, and release.

Diplopia
Ethan Hinshelwood + Owen Wilson
‘’Diplopia’’ is simultaneously a dramaturgic experiment and a crash course on introspection. Two artists, one profile, inherent competition in an industry that views us interchangeably. This project asks the following: what happens to our sense of self if we purposely shed whatever differences we have as individuals in order to become as similar as possible? How much of an individual is necessary for creation? Can one presence be shared by two bodies?

Jacob Girard-Dardenne + Sebastian Reale Hernandez + Louis-Olivier Jetté + Audrey Gendron-Paiement
On a table, a narrator animates small objects and figurines to recount the odyssey of a cowboy crossing deserts and distant lands. He orchestrates every twist and turn, down to the sound effects he creates live. Behind the table, a real, flesh-and-blood cowboy, riding a wooden-and-leather saddle, struggles to escape the wrath of his creator.
At times an ally, at times an antagonist, the narrator gradually loses control of his miniature universe until, suddenly, the boundary between the one who tells the story and the one who lives it blurs.

Chienne dans le salon bleu
Julia Fafard + Leila Hébert
Bringing together—within a single body—the system’s immutability and upheaval, the reorganization and the erosion of our bonds. The performer moves to the rhythm of disjointed, endless, repetitive words.
“Chienne dans le salon bleu” bears witness to the fascism that is quietly creeping into our spaces. Attempting to defuse it by exploiting its incongruities. Asserting one’s presence, one’s dissent. Building resistance from the discomfort of one’s own living room.

Le Montréal-Nord en moi
Lisa-Willia Volcy
”Le Montréal-Nord en moi” is a stage work blending theatre and dance, where presence and the ways we inhabit our bodies become material for research. The project moves through spaces where expression overflows, where the gaze of others shapes us, and where we learn to adjust how we carry ourselves. An exploration of what unfolds between who we are, what we choose to show, and what we allow ourselves to be — until we let it all go.

FUCK YOU MAN
Yoanie Bélanger + Aurélien Grandjean + Déborah Bailly
February in Montreal, in a parking lot, at night. A taxi is waiting. Violette, 58, a taxi driver, will drive Antoine, 23, a foreign student, to YUL airport. Everyone is always far from home. Everyone. All the time. Everything is far and tonight it’s cold. Fuck this. FUCK YOU MAN.

WORN
Madz DeRose + Tiera Joly Pavelich + Selena Russo + Enrique Reyes
WORN is a contemporary duet exploring closeness, trust, and reclamation through the materiality of a shirt. Acting as a second skin, the shirts become a site of comfort, constriction, and boundary-testing between two dancers. As the piece unfolds across phases of comfort, disruption, and release; the shared condition reveals itself as malleable. Navigating their continually mutating intent, the relationship fluctuates from safe to risky. The dancers reclaim softness and the painful imperative of shedding the past.
