Creation + Research residencies

The first itinerary of LA SERRE’s residencies, Dramaturgical Excursion, allows a cohort of artists and cultural workers to embark on an experimental path combining a week of residency and four workshop groups. Accompanied by Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, the participants will go through an experience that encourages artistic risk while relying on exchanges and conversation for guidance – ruminating on thoughts and testing ideas! This interdisciplinary and interstitial journey circulates between the studio and the public space, inviting the artists to renew their practice, articulate ideas that are still fragile and celebrate unfinished thoughts.

Four dramaturgical weekends will be organized in 2022-2023. Facilitated by Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, these workshops will address the themes of the participant’s research through readings, performative initiatives, thoughts in action, as well as embodied exercises. The emphasis is made on knowledge sharing and mutual support. Risk requires courage that is built through community.

This year’s cohort was selected by a collaborative committee, consisting of Émilie Martz-Kuhn, Émilie Monnet, Angélique Wilkie and Claudel Doucet.

The Creation + Research residency program is offered in collaboration with the FTA’s respiration program, the Gouin Psychology Centre and the Fond d’Initiative et de rayonnement de la métropole (FIRM).
