Flavie Lemée
Based in Montreal (Tiohtià:ke), Quebec, Flavie is a visual artist whose work is deeply oniric, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, cinema, photography, and dreams. Trained at the National Theatre School of Canada in Creation and Production, she has collaborated on numerous theatre and music projects while developing her practice in photography and video. Her poetic and vibrant approach illuminates the intangible through meticulous rhythm and a bold use of light. Central to her practice is a reflection on the ecology of sensations, phenomenological aesthetics, and technopoetics. She is particularly interested in the effects of light on the subconscious and, more broadly, in exploring perception in all its dimensions.
SUNDOGS
Sundogs are natural optical phenomena that occur when light reflects off tiny ice crystals in certain clouds. Often regarded as sacred manifestations, these luminous halos have long inspired awe and wonder.
Inspired by the idea of an embodied, sensory ritual, Flavie develops Sundogs as a performative and immersive installation blending light, smoke, video, and sound. Conceived to suspend time and open a breach in reality, the project engages the imagination, the subconscious, and the senses. Borrowing nature’s spectacular language, Sundogs unfolds as a response to the disenchantment of the world—a techno-poetic offering inviting audiences to slow down, feel, and reaffirm our connection with the living.
