Marcus Merasty

Marcus is a Nēhithaw/Cree dance and multidisciplinary artist from Wapâwikoscikanihk/Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. Trained at The School of Contemporary Dancers in Winnipeg, he develops a practice that combines contemporary dance with Indigenous legacies.

He is currently developing The Golden Rez Dog, a non-narrative choreographic performance that explores life on the reserve, ancestral knowledge, and decolonization. Inspired by a poem about a dog living on a reserve, the work engages themes of resilience, community, and the unique bonds between humans and animals in this context.
